City Series
Imagined with a juniper
This work began with Cin-ci-nat-i in 2024. Driving past Cincinnati on road trips, I was drawn to the row houses perched on hills, graffiti, and layers of buildings glimpsed from the highway. I could only take in pieces of the city as we passed.
That interest carried into City Series. I build up the surfaces with slip, underglaze, and texture, then cut out sections and replace them to change the relief. Some marks stay visible; others get partly covered. I want that layering to feel like a city’s history, still visible as the city changes.
